Frequently asked questions
Everything players ask before and after joining The Hub. If your question is not here, the Discord is the fastest route to an answer.
› What is The Hub?
The Hub is a community-run DayZ server on Chernarus, built around a hand-tuned loot economy, weekly events and active moderation. It is run by players, funded by an optional store, and not affiliated with Bohemia Interactive.
› How do I join the server?
Subscribe to the required mods on the Steam Workshop, enable them in the DayZ launcher, then find the server under the Community tab. The full step-by-step guide is on the "How to join" page.
› Which map does the server run?
Chernarus — the original DayZ map, and still the one that rewards map knowledge the most. An interactive live map is available from the navigation bar.
› Is the server modded?
Yes. The mod list is published on the "How to join" page and pinned on Discord. The DayZ launcher downloads everything automatically once you are subscribed.
› Is the loot vanilla?
No. The loot economy is tuned by hand: scarcer medical supplies, scarcer ammunition, and high-tier gear that has to be fought for. The intent is that a full kit stays an achievement rather than a starting condition.
› How often does the server wipe?
Wipes are announced on Discord well in advance, never without warning. Purchases made in the store are not lost to a wipe.
› Does it cost anything to play?
No. The server is free — you only need to own DayZ on Steam. The store is entirely optional and exists to cover hosting costs.
› What do I get from the store?
Cosmetic and convenience items: priority queue, chat tags, group colours and similar. Purchases are optional and are not designed to decide fights.
› Why do I need to link Discord and Steam?
Discord identifies you on the site, and Steam links that identity to your in-game character. Both are needed for the store to deliver anything to the right player, and for group colours and chat tags to work.
› How do I report a cheater?
Open a ticket on Discord with a clip or screenshot and a timestamp. Reports with evidence are acted on quickly; reports without it are hard to do anything with.
› Can I get a refund?
Refunds are covered by the Refund Policy linked in the footer. If something was not delivered in game, open a ticket — that case is always sorted out.
› When can I raid?
The raid window runs from Friday 20:00 to Sunday 23:59 (Europe/Paris). Doors and C4 are weekend only. Softside entry through an uncovered gap and ladder placement are allowed 24/7, with no destruction and one ladder per player.
› How big can a group be?
Four players maximum per group, and never more than four online at the same time. Teaming with another group is forbidden, including trading outside the Safe Zone.
› What are the base building limits?
Free building is capped at 6 × 6 × 4, and 6 × 6 × 3 outside a pre-existing structure, with height counted from the roof of that structure. A base may have 15 doors maximum, every fence layer must have a gate, and building around a keycard room or inside a bunker is forbidden.
› Do I have to record my raids?
Yes. Every raid must be recorded — video proof is required, and compensation of any kind is only granted with it.
